Feltham
Community College’s seventh annual
Celebration of Sport evening took place
on Thursday 2nd July, with students from
a range of sporting disciplines invited
to attend.
Over
100 students attended the event, in which
the PE Department honours students who have
made outstanding contributions to the college
sports teams over the last 12 months.
Prizes
are awarded for each year group for sports
including Athletics, Rugby, Basketball,
Netball, Cricket, Dance, Rounders, Football
and Table Tennis and Badminton. Five students
are nominated in each category by their
respective coaches, before a winner is chosen.
Each winner receives a commemorative shield.
Overall winners for each sport are then
chosen, with these students receiving another
shield and a prize linked to their sport.
A number
of special awards are also presented on
the night. These included the Male and Female
Sports Personality of the Year, awarded
to Kain Monks and Dannielle Pond; the Team
of the Year Award was split between, the
Y8 Rugby team and Yr 8/9 Basketball Squad
and Jamie Wittekind Award for outstanding
effort and progress in PE, awarded to Siobhan
Laurent.
Many
thanks to all the professional clubs/agencies
for all their support in the production
of this awards evening, and especially to
UPS who have again been fantastic to support
this evenings’ event. It is also great
to have Sky TV, Plan A Printers and Shaw
Trophies all willing to support and sponsor
the event, recognising the huge impact that
sport has on the local community.
The
evening rounded off another fantastic year
of Sport at FCC and students are already
looking forward to going one step further
next season!
